The National Museum of the American Coverlets is a wonderful and "cool beans" place to visit - both Lazlo and Melinda are dedicating themselves to help preserve the history of the American coverlets. This new exhibit which starts on the 14th of September entitled "Lions and Tigers (No Bears) - Oh My!" Is a truly delightful, historical, and whimsical exhibit. A GREAT place to visit. They describe it as the Noah's Ark of Coverlets.
Information as follows:
“LIONS AND TIGERS (NO BEARS) – OH, MY!”
A Noah’s Ark of Animals in Coverlets
Animals are often depicted in coverlets, and the exhibition opening on September 14 will be a true safari. From butterflies to pussycats, from foxes to horses and from monkeys to giraffes, the display will include critters both wild and domesticated – and no animals will be harmed in the process!
The exhibition will include over 100 coverlets from several private sources as well as the Museum’s permanent collection. As more coverlets arrive for this exhibition, the menagerie continues to grow, with animals of every description, large and small.
We look forward to sharing these great coverlets, with their amazing imagery, for the enjoyment of all you “dyed in the wool” animal lovers!
The animal theme will be carried into the upcoming Coverlet College (September 25-26-27 at the Museum), with three of the weekend’s eight presentations focusing on a historical view of animals and their appearance in decorative arts.
We promise you that this exhibition and the events surrounding it will be great fun for all. For more information on Coverlet College and additional events call 814.623.1588.
